Chapter 2 Update
Alexander goes on an adventure. A break. Some things.
Alexander, The Servant & The Water of Life (Chapter 2, August 18 2021)
This update is 6 pages (or 3 double pages) long.
The next update, Chapter Three, is on September 14th/15th.
What’s happened since:
Chapter Three will launch on September 14th/15th. I'm currently working on the remastering of The Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya Volume 2 and the art edits of another graphic novel – two projects I would have been alright juggling with Alexander Comic if I wasn't
1) aging into my late twenties and slowly losing my tolerance for Too Much Work
2) dealing with the stresses of the planet.
Fortunately Alexander operates on a "my comic my rules XDD" basis so I'm gonna bounce for a bit.
Anyway I need the time to build a buffer and to keep working in the pace that benefits the amount of research and artsy experimentation this story requires.
A Nice Thing: Culture writer ML Kejera reviews the comic, discussing the transcript and its relationship to the artwork that it transcribes.
At the Symposium (paywalled): The usual behind-the-scenes. I will be posting the progress for Chapter Three as I finish each page.

Author’s Notes: I’ve posted my author’s notes for Chapter Two.
Moving away from Substack: I originally picked up Substack as a straightforward tool for free newsletter updates. Unfortunately and embarassingly, in light of the company’s “neutral” stance on transphobia and its appointment of an unsavoury character as their paid ambassador for comics creators to Substack premium, I’m no longer comfortable associating myself or Alexander to the service.
I’ll be switching instead to Mailchimp. There will be no changes whatsoever to this newsletter, its frequency or its format, other than some aesthetic improvements.
If you enjoyed the comic, please support its growth by commenting and/or sharing.
See you in September, gang. Stay spooky.
